I love it when something that was once really special to you begins to circle back around after some time apart, only this time you’re a different person than you were before. Maybe you parted ways intentionally, or perhaps it was because other things in life became more prominent. Either way, it feels so good to be called back home by something that changed your life—a person, a situation, or something else.
I posted a Note the other day with a stack of my favorite books, most of which are written by Rebecca Campbell.
Just like another Note I posted months ago, sharing the arrival of Rebecca Campbell’s new book, Your Soul Had A Dream Your Life Is It, I received a lot of love and made a lot of connections with people who also love her work.
This is what’s calling me back now—immersing myself in the mysticism of life. These conversations and connections have reminded me why the path of the mystic, equal to the path of the witch in my own practice, is essential for me to walk.
Rebecca is the one who first reminded me what it means to be a mystic, and as I immerse in her work again, it feels like a big exhale, a returning home to myself. Only this time, I’m a different person than when I first found her work years ago.
So, while it’s a returning, it’s also a rebirth. I’ve died and been reborn from the ashes, and now my inner child is ready to go deeper into the mystical as the embodied witch I’ve become.
In honor of this returning, I’ve pulled some cards from my favorite deck of Rebecca’s, The Rose Oracle. This is a reading for the collective here on Substack and anyone else you want to share it with.
Question: What message does Sophia, Creatrix of all Life, want us to know that is in our highest good right now? (This can apply to your personal life or to what’s happening in the world around you.)
Card 1: What’s known.
The Breathing Rose
Amidst all the chaos and destruction in the world right now, there is a heart-healing happening. Emotions are rising to the surface to show us what no longer works so we can go within and find what does. Connection with others is the most important thing right now. While we still have a ways to go, time will ease the pain so many are experiencing. It’s through connecting with each other and within ourselves that we accelerate this heart-healing for all.
Card 2: What’s hidden.
The Child Within
During times of strife or upset, it’s easy to forget what really matters. It’s easy to get caught up in the turmoil of a crumbling world, especially when it’s directly affecting our personal lives, the lives of our families, and our well-being. Yet what’s hidden beneath the surface of all of this noise is the inner work. Now, more than ever is the time to go within—to the innocence that was never harmed because it never can be—and hold yourself in a gentle tenderness. The true change happens within each heart first and your job is to heal and love your inner child no matter what may be happening around you. You have the strength.
Card 3: What’s unfolding.
The Bud
It’s through the dark nights that the sun rises again. It’s through the crumble that things can be rebuilt on a more solid foundation that can’t be shaken. Within this dark night we are living, there is potential and promise for a new beginning—for all of us. It’s for those of us, the ones who are here to lead the way, to walk our path without apology and pave a new way, that must stand strong right now. Keep believing that your work in the world matters and that doing your part, no matter how small it may feel, is leading us all to a new beginning.
Card 4: Grounded action to take.
Open
It’s the extremes of life that really challenge us to look within. It’s easy to say yes when things are going well. It’s easy to say yes when the path ahead feels clear. But, when it really matters to say yes is when things feel hard and the path ahead feels muddled. Say yes to your own heart and allow an expansion to happen within yourself through the extremes we are living in right now. This is the opening to a new world and this new world is where we will find ourselves if we can keep our hearts open and expand through the extremes.
What are you returning to? What is calling your home?

Moonrise Mystic is the journey of a novelist connecting her love of story with her passion for the mystical into one moving, breathing prayer. It’s for those who love to read fantasy stories and intuitive writings that explore expanding through the initiations of life, death and rebirth, and transmuting shadow to light. Thank you for being here!
The Witch And The Whale
What the witch doesn’t know, at least not in her logical mind, is that she’s much more like the whale than any normal human, for she has an ancient, wise, and magical soul. Yet, she believes herself and her life to be small, tedious, and without meaning—as happens with so many people as they grow into adulthood and, therefore, suffer needlessly.
To the Mother I Was
I’ve been exploring this story recently as new understandings and memories come to light about how much I actually survived in those early years of motherhood. I believe it’s more true than not for women to live through trauma they don’t even realize is trauma until they arrive at a safe enough place (within themselves and in the world around them) to begin to acknowledge how much they’ve actually survived.
This is so resonate Alysia! I Love the reading, especially around coming home to our innocence. For me, innocence is deeply beautiful and ironically an untapped source of incredible power.
Thank you, @Lisa Andruszkow, for sharing the love!
